Mrs. Mallue's Class - Favorite Stories

This week our theme was Favorite Stories.  We read Brown Bear, Brown Bear, I Ain't Gonna Paint No More and The Very Hungry Caterpillar.  The children enjoyed gluing brown paper on their bears, painting at the easel and making circle prints.

When we glue and collage we learn: to exercise imagination and creativity, concepts of size and shapes, location and design which is relevant to reading, texture, create patterns and designs.

When we paint at the easel we learn: to develop imagination and creativity, eye-hand coordination, distinguish and purposely create shapes, express feelings, learn relationships of space and size, symmetry and balance.

Listening to the story at snack time. We learn: books are important and enjoyable, to use more complex language patterns in our own speech.

I put out some different types of blocks this week. The children enjoyed building with some and looking for letters with others.  When we play with blocks, we learn: concepts of shape, size length and location, to create and repeat patterns, to exercise imagination, cooperate with others, problem solve.

As you can see we are very busy learning as we are playing.

We had another birthday in our class. Happy Birthday!!!
