This week the children continued to learn about "Out West".
On Monday, they worked on "branding".  Each child got to use their own letter.  I also had letters in the sand table this week that they could "pan" for.  A fun way to get them to recognize the letter in their name.

Some play dough fun on a gloomy Wednesday.  The children had star cookie cutters to go along with our starry western skies.

We had another birthday! Happy Birthday Beckett!

To finish off our "Out West" theme, the children decorated cowboy/cowgirl boots. I also showed them a video on Friday morning as they arrived for school, of a rodeo.  They got to see broncos, calf roping, barrel racing and bull riding!  Yipee!

The next few weeks we will be learning about baby animals on the farm and we will be getting ready for Easter.  See you Monday!

The children finished up their unit on snow.  I think they had a lot of fun!
Here are a few of their art projects.

The children seemed to enjoy showing their grandparents the classroom for Grandparent/Special Friend Day.  It was great to see so many grandparents and special friends!

Next, we got busy with Valentine's Day!

The children had a great experience when the Wonders of Nature show came to school. They were introduced to some cool animals that you can see in your own backyard! A hawk, a parrot, an opossum, an owl and even some squirrels!

We had a great Valentine's Day party!  Thank you Ella's mom for hosting this one.

The children decorated bags for their valentine exchange.

We are now learning about things Out West!  Cowboys, cowgirls, boots, hats, panning for gold and rodeos.  The children have been very attentive when I read to them about these things.

The children also worked on making a Sheriff Badge.

This week, the children will be learning about "branding".  The cowboys/girls use a mark or letter to identify their cows.  The children will be looking for, and decorating with, their own mark/letter.  Yippee!
