To finish up our unit on Dental Health, the children made "Smile" snacks. The children were given red apples and miniature marshmallows for teeth.

We also did an experiment using two hard boiled egg, a can of Coke and a glass of milk.  We put one egg in a glass of Coke and one egg in a glass of milk to see what would happen to the shell.  We learned that some foods can stain your teeth, so it is very important to brush them.  We also learned a cool song, sung by Raffi about brushing your teeth!

LOVE these smiles!

The children are singing a song about "driving in my car".
They are holding their steering wheels! Vrooom! Vroom! Vroom!

More classroom fun, including some scissor work.

I absolutely love watching the children paint.  I gave them the three primary colors, red, yellow and blue.  They could choose which color(s) they wanted to use.  It was interesting to watch them experiment with the colors and to see the techniques they used. You could see them enjoying putting the color on the paper and then discovering what blending the colors would do.  Notice the different techniques, one handed vs two handed, strokes vs dabs and note they all had the same three colors, yet different pictures!

All a learning process.......

Last but not least, on Friday we enjoyed the Wonders of Nature. Matt taught the children about several animals including a hawk, an owl, an opossum, squirrels and a talking parrot. He told them how the different animals use their senses to find food. The hawk has keen eyes, the owl keen ears. Some birds have talons, some do not.  Most importantly, Matt taught the children to look for and notice all the wonderful animals around us everyday and that we should be kind to all of them.

What a fun week! See you all on Monday!

This week the children worked on "love bugs".  This project involved a lot of glue and a bit of concentration!

Some play dough fun and discussions..... :)

The children decorated their valentine bags. This was a great exercise to help with fine motor skills.  Notice the concentration on their faces, too.

What could be better then a chocolate cupcake?  A chocolate cupcake with pink icing!

Whoooo likes Valentine's Day?  We do!
