I am sure by now that your child has told you about our visit to see Hunny Bunny!  Mrs. Carlson was visiting our room the other day and saw that we were discussing spring and baby animals, including chicks and bunnies.  She suggested that we make the trip across the street to the Elementary campus to see Hunny Bunny.  Hunny Bunny is a class pet in Mrs. Burrichter's 3rd grade classroom.  So with a little help from Ms. Tania, off we went.  The kids AND adults had a blast!

Some pre-bunny visit activities.................

Mrs. Burrichter's 3rd grade class was so eager to share Hunny Bunny with us.  It took us a few minutes to realize that Hunny Bunny would not hurt us. Hunny Bunny was so soft!

This third grader was trying to show us how Hunny Bunny nibbles on apples.  I'm not so sure Hunny Bunny wanted to eat in front of all those people.

Hunny Bunny can take a nap!

Some very special 3rd graders were making sure Hunny Bunny did not go too far.  Mikayla and Abbie were both in my class a few years back :)  Mikayla is Mackenzie's relative!

We got to see Hunny Bunny's cotton tail!

Hunny Bunny likes to get her exercise and her 3rd grade friends help out by forming a bridge that she can hop over.  At then end.......hugs :)

One last goodbye.  Thank you to Mrs. Burrichter and her 3rd grade class for sharing Hunny Bunny with us today.  We had a blast!

We finished off our week by dying Easter eggs and having a special snack. We dyed our eggs using shaving cream and liquid water colors. The children rolled their eggs in the shaving cream mixture.  When the shaving cream on the eggs dried, it left behind the swirl of color.  The children learned to handle their eggs gently. :)

Thank you to Mackenzie's mom for providing our Easter snack and a special gift box.  Thank you also to Anna for the gift bags!

                                         Winding down a busy day.....................

Have a GREAT break!  Happy Easter!
See you next week when we start talking about "What is in Your Garden?"

This week we celebrated the wee bit of Irish that just may be in all of us!  We had fun mixing colors to make green and using that  color in art and cooking.  By the way, you mix blue with yellow to make green ;)

At the beginning of the week, they made green shamrocks.  They were each given a baggie with equal parts of glue and shaving cream.  I added blue and yellow water colors.  The baggie was sealed and the children used their fingers to "mix" the paint while it was in the bag. Notice the different techniques in mixing the colors!  :)

Once they got a desired color of green.  They squeeeezed it out of the bag onto a shamrock shape and spread it around with a spoon, and finally sprinkled on glitter! They got lots of practice using their fine motor skills with this activity.

                                              Finished projects with our leprechaun!

They also made green pudding this week!  It took several steps to make the pudding and everyone gladly chipped in to help.

First they had to dump in the pudding mix.

Next they added the milk....................

And then you stir.............

We wanted to make green pudding and since our pudding was already yellow all we had to do was add blue food color and stir, and stir and stir some more :)

Guess, she thinks this will take forever!

They finally got it all mixed together.  I put it in the fridge to chill.  When we got back in from the playground, we were ready for our green pudding.  For extra fun, we added a Keebler Elf cookie!
