This week, we continued with our theme of "Favorite Stories" and the first story we did was I Went Walking.  It is a story about a little boy that goes walking and discovers all kinds of farm animals. The classroom was full of farm animal activities. including a sequencing art project.

On Wednesday, we read The Big Wide Mouthed Frog.  I read the story to them and then at the end of the day we used a frog puppet to retell the story.  Fun!  Did you know that if you use a blue dot marker on a yellow paper, that you get a green frog?

We ended the week by reading Bear Snores On.  A cute story about a bear that sleeps through a party going on in his den!  The den "crashers" quickly include him in the festivities and all is well!  The children painted bears with a special touch, they added espresso!  It was a great sensory project.  The room smelled like a coffee shop!  :)

The next few weeks we will be working on Favorite Stories.  On Monday, we read, If You Give a Moose a Muffin.  The children had GREAT fun making muffins! These guys are just too cute!

First you have to get all of your ingredients together.

Then you have to put on your apron, which is not always easy...

Then you line the muffin tin with paper liners,,,,

And then you dump the muffin mix into a large bowl,,,,

To make muffins you need milk and eggs.  We discussed where these ingredients come from, cows and chickens,  :)

Now the fun begins!  I had a lot of muffin mix so everyone got a chance to add ingredients and to stir.

And then you wait,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

And so, while you wait for the muffins to cook, you clean up!

And finally, when they have cooled down....you get to eat them!

On Wednesday, we read Pete the Cat and his Four Groovy Buttons.  Pete the cat lost all of the buttons on his shirt.  Then he discovers that he has one button left, his belly button!  The children really liked this book and the song that went with it.

Some down time, reading fun.....

On Friday, we had a special treat, Jack Hartman came to sing for us.  We had a great time learning news songs with him!
