This week we started off by reading Flower Garden by Eve Bunting.  It is a story about a little girl that lives in the city.  She and her father buy flower plants at their local grocery store. They ride the bus home.  They climb many stairs to get to their apartment where they proceed to plant a flower box as a birthday gift for her mom.  We learned about many things in this book including, living in a city, riding a bus and making a gift for someone we love.

On Monday, we planted our own flower box! First they had to add the dirt to our flower box.

 Then they added their plants.

And then, they watered their flower box.  The flower box sits outside our classroom door and there are watering cans there also so the children can water the flower box every morning.

I try to have something different on the table every morning that goes along with our theme.  Our theme this month is "What Is In Your Garden?"  On this particular morning I added lizards! Some of my friends were not so sure about them.........

Then he realized they were OK to play with, especially if a friend joins in!

On Friday, we were entertained by Cesar the Magician.  We ALL really enjoyed his show!

Some quiet time after the big show :)

Can you pick out the flowers the children made?
