We made our own play dough. I'd say the reviews were mixed. :/
Frosty The Snowman
Our interpretation of snow.
We had another birthday! :)
Painting on ice.
Painting winter hats. This was a paint resist project. There is actually a little bit of wax crayon on the hats where the paint will not stick. When the girls painted, they got a design.
This is a great example of collaborative play and also letting them direct their play. I was merely the facilitator, allowing them to build out the door with a watchful eye. :) They got busy building the track and decided that it should go all the way out the door to the wall. Not all of the children were in class yet so the door was already open. They worked hard to get it as far as they could and then discovered, they did not have enough track. It was so fun to watch them figure out how to lay the track together. They have come a long way. :)
Here, the girls are painting something special for Grandparent and Special Friend's Day. They will be cut out in the shape of hearts and given as valentines. We had to do a little color mixing to get purple.
We have had fun learning about magnets! Mrs. Silvestri was teaching them what would stick and what would not, metal vs plastic or wood.
This morning we put the finishing touches on our snowmen.
Science + Art = Fizzy Hearts! The girls sprinkled baking soda on their paper and then dripped on colored vinegar. It fizzes! So much fun!
And with all of this, they still find time to play. :)
Have a great weekend!
