Some Fine Motor Skills practice, picking up pompoms with tongs and putting them into boxes! This takes a lot of concentration.
The children have now started to go to chapel on Wednesday. So far, we are learning about kindness. They have done very well in chapel!
Painting with an ice cube! This activity combined art with science. The children worked with powdered tempera paint and an ice cube. As the ice cube melts, the water mixes with the powder to create the paint. With this activity, we were able to discuss temperature. When they touched the ice cube while painting with it, they discovered it was COLD!. We were able to discuss liquids and solids. When the solid ice melted, it turned into a liquid, water. Some of the children discovered that if you bang the ice cube it will break and then we have pieces of ice instead of a nice big chunk to paint with. :) It was all great fun and is one of my favorite projects. I have hung the picture up in the classroom and have affixed each child's initial on their art so they can identify which one is theirs.
See you Monday!
